One month check up

This morning our little Gwenny Bug had her 1 month check up (she is 5 weeks and 1 day today). She did amazing! She weighed in at 9 lb and 6 oz and was 22 and 1/4 inches. It is truly amazing to me how quickly they grow. At times I wish she would slow down so I can keep her small and squishy, but I love to see how she is developing and her little personality shining through. She also got her 2nd Hepatitis B vaccine today. She did much better then I did. She only cried for about a minute then she was okay again. I, of course, cried and was so nervous. I think it was mainly because I absolutely hate shots!

I love waking up to my little girl every morning. I cannot help but smile every time I look at her. Yesterday, I went into her room to get her up and I leaned down by her ear and said "good morning Gwenny" and she had such a huge smile on her face, my heart melted! She also loves it when I run my fingers through her hair. It seems to calm her down and sometimes even put her to sleep. She just started sucking on her pacifier about a week ago and pretty much only takes it when it is getting close to time to eat or when she is awake for a couple of hours.

She is pretty much on a eating schedule now. She eats about every 3 hours and only gets up one time at night to eat! I would love to start putting her to bed a little earlier, even if that means I have to get up 2 times at night. My only problem with that is that night time is her time to spend with daddy since he is gone at work all day. So I do not want to deprive either of them their time they actually get to spend together.

I do have to say that I have been struggling a bit lately being a mom and a wife. I definitely don't get to give the amount of time and attention that I used to give to Matt any more. When Gwen is asleep I am usually so tired that I just kind of zone out. I have also been kind of emotional and snappy. I know with time I will get used to it all and be able to devote enough time to both Matt and Gwen, I just wish that time would come soon. I need to be able to spend quality time with the hubby!

Here are some pictures from the past month of our little one getting so big...

  1. So cuuuute! I'm glad she did well at the appt. I feel like such a bad parent because I laughed when Gavin got his first shots. As far as time with Matt and Gwen, start pumping and get a sitter. :)
